My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Diesel is not in the Closer to Home Animal Advocates' program. This is a courtesy listing for his owner.

We are unable to keep our beautiful Siberian husky, Diesel. He is a wonderful dog, great with other dogs and loves people. He rarely barks. He is 8 years old, neutered, had all his shots in March, on heartworm preventative and will come with a larger dog kennel, large bag of dog chow, dog food bowl, 4 or 5 months worth of heartworm preventative, and cedar-filled doggie bed. He is also micro chipped, in case he gets lost.

We are looking for someone who would be dedicated to providing him with a walking or running routine daily. Otherwise, he would be very miserable. In addition, we prefer someone with a fenced in yard. Also, if you have another dog, they will need to be separated during feeding times.

If you are interested in adopting this dog click here for our online adoption application. Vet and personal references will be checked and a home visit is required. Adoption fee will be required.

Important Facts about Siberian Huskies

• If you work all day, or have room for only one dog . . . don't buy a Siberian. Siberians are a gregarious lot and need the company of other dogs or of people at all times.

• Siberian Huskies love people, so they make poor watchdogs.

• Siberian Huskies are energetic dogs who require a good deal of exercise—at least 30 to 60 minutes per day. If you can’t exercise your husky, you will be sorry!

• Of all the shortcomings to be found in Siberians, the most dangerous to the pet owner is their tremendous desire to RUN. They are talented escape artists and have a strong prey drive. For his own protection, should be kept confined or under control on a leash at all times.

• They need regular grooming care, consisting of bathing, brushing, and care of eyes, teeth, ears, feet and nails.

• Twice a year Siberian Huskies shed most of their undercoat over the course of two or three weeks. Be prepared for lots of vacuuming. LOTS of shedding.

• They are social dogs and do not like being left alone, and will be happier if they have a companion dog.
