Are you Nikki's forever home?
Nikki is three years old. We think she is a Carolina Dog. http://www.carolinadogs.com/
Nikki was rescued two years ago from a local kill shelter, very pregnant, and heart-worm positive. Only after her pups were weened and adopted out, was she able to get heart-worm treatment. These two events required her to be kept in isolation for a long while. Her re-introduction to other dogs did not go as well as we would have liked . For that reason, we are very cautious with her around other dogs. Nikki LOVES all humans, but due to her size and energy, she might be too much for small kids. While Nikki has been kept in kennels for much of her recent life, she has proven reliable about house training.
Nikki's perfect forever home would be with someone dog-savvy and training orientated. She needs that one-on-one bonding relationship to help her evolve into the great dog she can be!
- Privacy fenced yard recommended.
- High prey drive, no small animals.

Rescue Group Info...
We are a non-profit, all volunteer, non-euthanizing rescue group out of Richmond, Virginia. We foster out of our homes to socialize the dogs and puppies to a family setting. Adults are house broken, crate trained and up-to-date on all of their medical before they go to their new homes. Puppies are started with their shots and wormings, depending on the age of the puppy as to how much medical is done on them before they go to their new families. If they are not spayed or neutered then they will receive a spay/neuter certificate to get it done when they become of age to do it, usually around 4 to 6 months of age. We rescue all breeds of dogs and puppies, from little ones to big breeds!
We adopt our dogs in the Richmond, Virginia, area. Our stand locations are as follows- Pet Smart at Libbie and Broad on Saturdays from 11:00-3:00
Make sure to check our website for more details and information about all the events listed above. www.aarf.org
There is an application process, including filling out the application. We submit it to our screening board and they will call your references, vet's office (if you have other pets), and interview you and your family. Once approved, they call the foster home and give the information to them to set up a time to deliver your new family member and to do a home visit. At that time there is a contract that needs to be read and signed. We also provide you with the pets medical records, a spay/neuter certificate (if needed) and a vet visit certificate. There is a $150.00 adoption fee that is due at time of delivery.
