Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Mia was one of several dogs surrendered to the dog warden by a woman who was unable to care for them financially or properly. Mia was a matted mess, had fecal matter all over her rear, a bad ear infection, and her toenails were curled back into her pads. This was the foster mom's first experience at seeing such a neglected dog and she cried. Of course, she immediately took Mia to the groomer for a complete shavedown and "spa treatment."
Mia wasn't spayed and had a mammary mass that we had removed and biopsied - thankfully negative. These masses are common in unspayed older females - sometimes the news is not so good. Her vet bill was very high - $670 - and we would appreciate any donations for her care (tax deductible). She doesn't see or hear well, but has enough of both to get along.
Sweet Mia is just wishing for a forever home to spend the rest of her days - a place where she can just nap undisturbed for as long as she desires. Mia has been estimated at between 8 and 12 years old (we think in the middle) - but it's hard to tell since she has no teeth for the vet to judge by (but she eats just fine, thank you very much!). She asks for very little but appreciates occasional petting.
Mia is being fostered in Canastota, NY and her asking adoption fee is $125.

NOTE: Due to the volatile price of gas, getting multiple volunteers to help with long distance transporting is no longer feasible. We have listed the town and state where each dog is being fostered. Please consider how far you are willing to travel when filling out the application. The foster home will usually volunteer to help with transport for a reasonable distance.
