Rufus's Story...
ACH! Another case of horrible neglect and abuse and yet Rufus is a dream. He came in with a gaping wound from where someone had let a choke collar become embedded in his skin. We had to treat his wound for weeks which meant a lot of painful cleaning and care and he never, ever raised a lip to protest and was an absolute gentleman through it all. He's now healed and ready for a home of his own. He's reactive to other dogs and will need to be an only pet but makes up for his intolerances with a more than average love for humans (what an optimist). He will only require moderate exercise and is looking for a job opening as a couch warmer and love giver.

Act quickly to adopt Rufus. Pets at this Shelter may be held for only a short time.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Rufus, a Berkeley Rottweiler/German Shepherd Dog dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Rottweiler/German Shepherd Dog for sale in Berkeley, or seeking a Rottweiler/German Shepherd Dog dog from a breeder in Berkeley.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Berkeley already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Berkeley breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Rottweiler/German Shepherd Dog breeders who help with Rottweiler/German Shepherd Dog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Berkeley paves the way for another one to be saved.
