I am already spayed, up to date with shots, good with kids, and good with dogs.
Merryweather was one of a litter of three puppies rescued by Angie the Fairy Dogmother of West Dallas. The family could not afford to spay their female and continued to have litter after litter of puppies. The Mama dog was covered in fleas and ticks and the puppies were not much better. Angie helped these people out by asking them to release the puppies to her and let her get Mama dog spayed. Merryweather and her two sisters came to us as 5-week-old bundles of puppy love. Merryweather can be a bit shy at first, but after she warms up she will lick you to death! She seems to prefer women and is a little leery of men. She’s a darling pup who will grow into a fine dog. Please ask about Merryweather. She may be the life-long friend you have been searching for.
Before the Bridge is comprised of 3 die hard rescuers. We are a new group, formed in September of 2008, but our rescue experience spans many years. Dogs and cats are now housed at a new location in Caddo Mills. Dogs are routinely transported to local adoption events for the public to see. Folks may also take a look at our Adoption Book to look for their new friend and companion. We also have pets listed on a fellow rescuers site. We accept any breed but have specialized in Pit Bull rescue. Because we are small, our space is limited as well as our finances. Donations of money, food, or supplies are always very welcome. We do not euthanize to make room for another animal so when we are full, we must say no to taking in a new rescue.

Come Meet Our Pets...
Our pets are shown at Adoption events only. We cannot arrange for you to visit our homes or show dogs on any days other than Saturday or Sunday.
Regular adoption events are held each Saturday at various Petsmarts in the area in conjunction with the Straydog Inc group out of Gun Barrel City. We are there from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Please come by and see us!
Special events are announced as they become available.
Thank you for your understanding.
Our Adoption Process...
When a potential adopter identifies a dog or cat in which they are interested, they contact Before the Bridge to request an application. Once the application is received and approved, a home visit is set up during which we bring the chosen pet to the adopter's home to meet and greet with all the occupants both human and animal. If the home visit goes smoothly, the adopter will sign a contract and pay a $200 donation fee ($100 for cats). We then leave the pet in their new Forever Home and do a followup phone call in a week or so to see how things are going.
*Please note: Although the City of Garland Shelter is making great strides in the right direction in their treatment of Pit Bulls, they still have a long way to go. Therefore, Before the Bridge does not adopt Pit Bulls to residents in Garland. We regret this inconvenience and will continue to monitor changes in that City.

Other organizations are rescue groups run by busy volunteers who may take a while to reply. You can find information about the shelter or rescue group caring for this pet, and their adoption procedures,
