Jackie's Story...
What’s up my man? They call me Jackie!!! What’s yo name? Ya, lemme tell you what the deal is… I’m looking for a new home. My family had to gimme up since they wasn’t makin’ much money due to these hard financial times… and they wanted me to have a better life. I am a lovin' little dude, but I like things on the mellow side, ya know? Not a lot of rough handling, I just don't want to deal with all that pokin' and proddin' so I really need a family with no children. I do love my fellow canine and feline friends though..... Yeah, I just want to chill out with my new fam… Watch a little TV, go on a walk, play with my stuffed animals, all that good stuff… Now here’s the real deal… I’ll need a person with a firm yet gentle hand and a lot of patience. Once my fam gave me up, a new fam took me home. They let me run the show and guard my toys and food, and even my own collar...so the whole thing didn’t work out and they returned me – that’s how I got transferred here to Family Dogs. All my behaviors really are pretty typical of Lhasa Apso’s, and can be completely manageable if you have had a little experience. You just have to be boss from day one, and shower me with love all at the same time… What do ya say, do we have a deal?

4 years old-18lbs. My adoption fee is $160 and includes; neuter, microchip, reduced cost Training Class, free veterinary exam, 1 month pet health insurance, leash/collar, food sample, toy & Treat packet.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Jackie, a Portland Lhasa Apso dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Lhasa Apso for sale in Portland, or seeking a Lhasa Apso dog from a breeder in Portland.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Portland already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Portland breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Lhasa Apso breeders who help with Lhasa Apso rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Portland paves the way for another one to be saved.
