Hello World! My name is Rufus. You may want to grab a kleenex because my story is kind of sad but I am getting my happy ending!!
Late one Sunday night I was walking along a country road. I had no home, no food,no friends, and no hope. I curled up in a ditch and laid my head in the road. I thought all hope was lost when suddenly a lady was asking me if I was o.k. and telling me to hang on. She pleaded with me to get up so I mustered all the strength I had and stood up. She begged me to follow her until she could find a place to safely pull over and I did just that. I walked behind her car until we found a church. She picked me up and put me in her car and took me home. When the lady took me to the vet she was shocked! Not only was I skin and bones, but I was covered in puncture wounds and cigarette burns, and had a horrible ear infection. With the help of the vet, she got me all fixed up and now i'm better than ever.
Life sure is different now. The lady said to find my forever home I have a few things to learn. Currently I am learning how to be an inside dog with outside privelages, cats are friends not food, leashes mean I get to go for a walk (Boy, do I LOVE thoses!), my metal bed(which the lady calls a crate) is a magical area where I get fed TWICE a day and only I am allowed to sleep in. The lady says the word "sit" alot but Im too excited to sit!! I love to give the lady big hugs and lots of kisses...she says I give the best hugs, but don't tell the other dogs here.
While life is great here, I am really looking for a home of my very own! I dream of a huge field to run in and a nice soft bed to snuggle up in a night. I love kids and think it would be the icing on the cake to have a kid of my very own. If you can make my dreams come true, please contact one of the great people at Almost Home Animal Rescue.
