Bell's Story...
Bell is a young Collie mix. She's only around a year old. She does not like to be on leash and I have a feeling she wasn't on one much in her former home. She's very playful, but not so much with toys, more with people. Bell finds chewies and her food bowl highly valuable and will guard these items. For that reason we will not place her with young children. She's a busy girl, but settles nicely and will lay right next to you. Bell will most likely chase kitties, she is good with other dogs here though. We think Bell may have been abused in her prior home.

All dogs at our shelter have been started on a vaccination program, de-wormed, treated with Revolution for fleas, spayed/neutered and microchipped. The adoption fee for a dog is $150. If you are a PA resident, you will also be required to purchase a dog license. There are 2 licensing options : annual licenses are $6.50 and are renewable every January. Lifetime licenses are $31.50 and never need to be renewed.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Bell, a Honesdale Collie dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Collie for sale in Honesdale, or seeking a Collie dog from a breeder in Honesdale.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Honesdale already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Honesdale breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Collie breeders who help with Collie rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Honesdale paves the way for another one to be saved.
