Lizzy's Story...
Lizzy. 18 mo Calico Turkish Van
What a beautiful cat this is! And nice, too. The shelter thought she was a Ragdoll. Since she is a long haired cat with blue eyes, that is perfectly understandable. Although CFA does recognize the Van coat patterns, we really think she is a Turkish Van because of her body & facial structure. We just haven't seen the breeders in our area producing Van coat patterns, and her markings are perfect for a Turkish Van. Her temperament is similar to what folks who want the fabled "Ragdoll personality" would be looking for, and she looks close enough that the uneducated eye wouldn't know the difference. So, if you like the look of this cat, but have been stuck on the Ragdoll breed, you still might consider her.
Lizzy is easy going yet playful, and all about her people. You'd think you had been her BFF the way she greets you. We don't think she has been around other cats much. Right now she hisses at them if introduced. She has never been around dogs. She will be ideal for a home that wants an only pet.
This is a great cat. Don't let the short bio fool you. There's not a whole lot to be said except that she's a great cat.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Lizzy, a Davis Turkish Van cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Turkish Van for sale in Davis, or seeking a Turkish Van cat from a breeder in Davis.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Davis already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Davis breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Turkish Van breeders who help with Turkish Van rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Davis paves the way for another one to be saved.
