My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sophie is Adopted

Sophie is currently fostered in Ashtabula Ohio, and her adoption fee/donation is $350
Sophie is a beautiful field bred English Cocker Spaniel, she came to our rescue as an owner surrender, due to the poor health of her owners. Sophie is 12 months old, and has a beautiful friendly-Loving temperament. She has a wagging tail that never stops wagging, she is always so happy to see people!!
She is bred for hunting, and has a super high prey drive, and is very VERY ACTIVE and mischievous!! This is common to see in field bred dogs. This girl is NOT for just anyone, she NEEDS constant training and supervision. Sophie will wear out even the best!! She likes to get into things, and thinks everything in life is a game!!! She does not listen to commands when she has her eyes/mind set on getting ahold of something she wants. If you yell at or scold her, she just keeps wagging her tail and acting like she could care less. To put it mildly, this dog IS A HANDFUL!!!! She needs to be worked with, given a job, and kept BUSY!! If you don’t keep her busy and on task, she will find something to do with herself, and it usually isn’t something you want her to do!!!
She can have her good moments, like in her video attached here, but this is NOT HER NORM, just a short period when she will lay back and entertain herself with a toy, especially if she is in bed with her person, she loves to lay with and be close to her person. Sophie IS TRAINABLE!! Don’t misunderstand, she can be trained, but whomever adopts her, will need to know how to handle her, she needs stimulation and exercise, as well as daily training. She MUST have a secure fenced in yard, she will take off on you faster than you can blink, and if she gets loose, she will be GONE!!!
She has been with an experienced trainer for a few weeks now, and is responding to it, however, this is only the beginning, and it MUST continue, so if interested in adopting her, you MUST BE COMMITTED TO HER TRAINING NEEDS. Please DO NOT APPLY if you aren’t strong, and willing to work with her.
Sophie is spayed, up to date on vaccines and is heartworm negative.
