My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

There is nothing more fun than a puppy, and at just 8 months of age, Katie is all fun and pure puppy. Katie has lots of energy and loves to chase and play with other dogs. She is a very outgoing, confident girl who enjoys going for walks and discovering all of the new and exciting things that the world has to offer. She is fascinated by the other animals that she encounters on her walks and in her yard and is more than ready to give those pesky squirrels a piece of her mind.

Like all puppies, Katie likes to chew and will apply her teeth to just about anything in the house. Her foster family is working to teach her what she can and can’t chew, but Katie is still a work in progress and if she was left alone, uncrated, she would probably eat the couch. Fortunately, she is very good about spending time in her crate and her foster family always crates her when she can’t be supervised.

Because Katie’s foster home does not include children, she is not experienced with kids. However, she is a friendly, fun-loving girl who would almost certainly enjoy having older, dog-savvy children to play with. She gets very excited when she plays and can be mouthy, so she would probably be too rough for young ones. Katie would also love to have a doggy playmate that is young, energetic and large enough to enjoy rough-housing with her. A fenced yard is a must and would provide the perfect space for her to run and play and burn up all of that puppy energy. Katie has not been cat tested and though she has shown no signs of aggression, she would be very likely to chase, pester and generally make life miserable for kitties.

Katie is fully housetrained and crate trained. She likes to be brushed and likes to go for rides in the car. She knows her name, will sit when told, doesn’t pull on her leash and is working on other commands. Katie is eager to please and wants to be obedient, but sometimes her playful, puppyish nature just overwhelms her desire to behave. She also likes the sound of her own voice and is ready to make her opinion known regarding just about everything. Her forever home will need to continue to work with her to help her become the well behaved girl that she wants to be. She would love to go to obedience classes where she could learn new things, meet new dogs and bond with her new family.

Katie is looking for a forever family that is ready for the fun and the responsibility that come with a new puppy. Her ideal home must include a fenced yard and either a playful doggy companion or older children or active adults who will include her in their activities. This loving, collie girl will eventually evolve into a calm and sedate lady, but right now it’s all fun, all the time!
