My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

ADOPTED
Sandra Dee came to us from a SC shelter where her owners had surrendered her because they said they had too many dogs. She certainly hadn't lived a pampered life. Estimated to be 7-8 years young, this friendly and affectionate Beagle is now looking for a forever home to retire to.

She has been examined by a vet, is up to date on vaccinations, dewormed, spayed and microchipped. She's also had some much needed dental work that required 13 extractions. Ouch! Sadly, her previous owners neglected routine care and cleaning for far too long and the teeth just couldn't be saved. Sandra Dee tested positive for heartworm infection (her owners hadn't bothered with heartworm preventatives either), and is now undergoing treatment. So, Sandra Dee will need to take it easy for a while. Thus far she is doing very well and is expected to make a full recovery.

Sandra Dee is a happy and friendly dog that loves people and gets along with other dogs. At just 25 pounds, she's a nice size and very easy to manage. She is crate trained and is working on becoming reliably housetrained too. She is well behaved on a leash and enjoys going for walks and exploring with her nose. She greets everyone she meets with her tail wagging looking for a friendly pat or a belly rub.

IMPORTANT: Safe Hounds Beagle Rescue does not operate a shelter where the public can meet our dogs. All of our Beagles are cared for in a loving foster home. Prospective adopters MUST submit an adoption application and be pre-approved to adopt. Once an applicant is approved, we’ll begin a matching process—the right dog for the right home. Submitting an application does not guarantee that you will be approved. Please visit our web page: www.safehounds.com to learn more about the adoption process and to download our adoption application.

Unable to adopt? Please consider making a donation. By helping us we can continue to make a difference in the lives of these deserving dogs by giving them the veterinary care they desperately need. We take in dogs with medical needs that other rescue's turn away. We have lots of hungry hounds to feed and are always in need of dog food and other items from our wish list as well as financial support to help us meet the needs of the dogs in our care. PayPal is the easiest way to donate - it's, fast free, and secure! Thank You!
