Oscar's Story...
Oscar came to us from NY where he had lived for a very long time- possibly since birth-in a filthy parking garage in Jamaica Queens. Selena contacted us to see if we could help. He had been hit by a car and for some time had been dragging a broken leg with a protruding bone and he was also suffering from major eye infections. Selena took him to the vet and paid for extensive care before he came to the refuge. Oscar is very scared and has not learned to trust yet. However, he has made progress - he now will eat from your fingers or a spoon! He continues to need a lot of health care and several of our volunteers have decided to sponsor him. His friends in NY also send gifts towards his care. We hope he will soon feel well enough to enjoy the other cats and the freedom of the refuge.

Shelter Info...
About Our Shelter...
Siglinda Scarpa is a potter and a sculpter who owns 3 acres of fenced-in property in which she houses 150-200 homeless cats. The Refuge is a sanctuary for these cats, who never have to leave, but if they are adoptable, the cats are posted on our website and taken to adoption events in the community. The more cats that we find homes for, the more cats we can rescue.
