My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

BUDDY'S STORY (formerly Butkus at Camarillo shelter kennel 100)

My name is Buddy and I am a senior black Chow mix. Three weeks ago my family brought me to a really scary place called a shelter and left me there. They told the people at the shelter that I am diabetic, blind and not good with anyone. They said I am almost 15 years old but I know I am younger. The other stuff was a lie too!!! They wanted me to die there and so they told all those things about me. Not sure what I did to make them want to do that. For awhile there it looked like i would die in that place.

But then a young guy who was really nice and smelled of dogs came and got me out of there. I could show him that I am really really nice, and that I am also a perfect gentleman and housebroken. I met the dogs he smelled of - there were 5 and I liked them all.

The guy took me to a veterinarian and this is when everyone found out my family lied about me. I am perfectly healthy for my age. I do have some cataracts but I can see fine and my sugar is normal so I am not diabetic.

The other good thing that happened to me is that I got groomed... they shaved all my mats and I am clean now and not hot anymore. It feels good not to be itching all over. Before I left the shelter I got neutered. That was not too great but I am fine now.

Here are pictures of me so you can see what a good looking guy I am. And I am so easy to have at home... I am perfectly housebroken. I don't need to be walked if I can walk around your back yard. I like other dogs a lot. I am just now learning that it feels good to be petted.

I need my own family who could love me and I could love them. Someone who would not leave me ever again. I would like to know what it feels to be loved. Please be that person for me.

Yours truly,

Buddy
