Chibi Sue's Story...
Chibi Sue (Pronounced Chee Bee Sue) is a 13 year old Akita. She has an extremely sweet disposition and loves human companionship. She is in need of either a foster home or being adopted as both of her owners died, and the family left her in the care of Shelter Pet Partners hoping that the rest of Chibi's life could be with someone that will love her. She does well with people, but is not good around other dogs so she would need to be in a one dog family. For adoption information please call Jan at 619 390-9028. This is a special circumstance and no adoption fee has been set for Chibi.

All SPP dogs are spayed/neutered before adoption, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed & will have 1 month free pet insurance if you choose to sign up. The adoption donation is (tax deductible). You must attend training with an approved trainer within 30 days of the adoption. Please San Diego County Residents Only (no exceptions). Long distance calls (out of San Diego County) will not be returned. For an application please visit

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Chibi Sue, a San Diego/North County Akita dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Akita for sale in San Diego/North County, or seeking a Akita dog from a breeder in San Diego/North County.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in San Diego/North County already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a San Diego/North County breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Akita breeders who help with Akita rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in San Diego/North County paves the way for another one to be saved.
