Mr. Chairman's Story...
This super-friendly, affectionate six-year-old was found as a stray in Far Rockaway and has become the unofficial Mayor of the Cat Loft. He seems to understand his name because he loves to sit on chairs! Also known as “Chairman Meow," he chats with visitors and always has a cute, quizzical look on his face. What we suspect he’s trying to tell us is that he wants someone to take him home and give him his very own chair (and sofa, bed and lap) to snuggle up on. He is a friendly boy and gets along with other cats. Mr. Chairman is front-declawed and, due to a dental condition called stomatitis, he has had all his teeth pulled, but he has no trouble eating!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Mr. Chairman, a Brooklyn American Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a American Shorthair for sale in Brooklyn, or seeking a American Shorthair cat from a breeder in Brooklyn.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Brooklyn already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Brooklyn breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even American Shorthair breeders who help with American Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Brooklyn paves the way for another one to be saved.
