Roxie's Story...

AARF only adopts in the Richmond, Virginia and surrounding area.

Roxie is a 6 year old female Black Lab mix. She is sweet and loving. A well behaved and good tempered dog, Roxie would make a good companion for anyone. She loves to run and play and enjoys regular walks.

Two years ago her primary care giver passed away. About that time she began to chew on her hindquarters. Is she missing her owner so bad that she's expressing her grief by chewing on herself? Please help give this girl a new loving home that will spoil her and make her feel whole again. She deserves it. She loves babies, people and just being loved!

For more information, contact aarfva@hotmail.com or visit us at our pet adoption stand Saturdays from 11-3 at the Petsmart on Libbie Ave and Broad St.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Roxie, a Richmond Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Richmond, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Richmond.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Richmond already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Richmond breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Richmond paves the way for another one to be saved.
