My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

COLBY (ID# A014162) is a handsome, neutered, 4 year old male German Shepherd. He was rescued from a kill shelter, and is currently in foster care, but he desperately needs to find a forever home.

He looked like he had a hard life in his past. He had an infected tail, and went through a number of surgeries to fix it. It is now completely recovered, and looks perfect. However, Colby needs a home where his new owner will understand what he has been through, and will understand that he is now a little mistrusting of new people who reach down to grab him...almost like he is thinking...what are you going to do to me next.

Once he knows you, he is wonderful, loving, playful and sweet. BUT he could get into trouble if his adopter doesn't understand his issue, and is not careful to introduce strangers to him in the correct manor. He would be perfect for a single person or a couple who would like to have a protective dog in the home. Its recommended not to have a busy household or one with kids with lots of activities. He also seems to be more protective at chain link fencing, so that might need to be a consideration.

He is good with other dogs, and is currently living with two other male shepherds and a small female dog. He does not guard his food, toys or bones, with people or with the other dogs. He is totally housebroken, and completely crate trained. If you feel that you could give Colby a happy home for the rest of his life, and would like to meet this sweet wonderful dog, please contact Denise at 559 960 6523 to set up a meeting.
