Stella's Story...
Stella is a gorgeous 4 1/2-month-old basset hound mix with beautiful marking and a lovely, mellow personality She and her siblings were born in a shed in a trash-filled backyard (see photo of entire litter, at about 6 weeks of age) and knew nothing of human contact until they came into our care, but they have proven to be the sweetest, most adaptable and all-out nicest puppies we've seen in a long time. Stella weighs about 26 lbs. now and will be a medium-sized (50ish lb.) adult. She has been spayed, vaccinated and de-wormed, and is very well crate-trained. All she lacks is a permanent, loving home. Suggested donation: $200.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Stella, a Naugatuck Basset Hound/Labrador Retriever puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Basset Hound/Labrador Retriever for sale in Naugatuck, or seeking a Basset Hound/Labrador Retriever puppy from a breeder in Naugatuck.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Naugatuck already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Naugatuck breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Basset Hound/Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Basset Hound/Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Naugatuck paves the way for another one to be saved.
