My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello, there! I'm Sahara! Are you available for a few belly rubs? That's my favorite thing in the world. I just ooze onto the ground to give you easy access! My background? Well, I guess you'd say I wasn't treated all that well in the past. I was discovered abandoned in the desert along with the remaining three puppies of my last litter. Nobody can understand why I was left there since someone obviously took some time with me. I came into rescue already housetrained, crate trained, and knowing basic obedience commands, after all. I'm also great with cats, kids, and other dogs. I'm six years old and a purebred yellow Lab. Now, I know I look as though I'm winking at everyone but it turns out that I had glaucoma and had to have my eye removed. I don't really know that I'm missing an eye because I get around just fine. Given that I had glaucoma, I could lose vision in my other eye in the future. I think that possibility sounds a lot worse to people than it does to dogs as I fully intend to continue to have a good life should that happen. In the meantime, I'm a calm and loving girl who just wants to be part of a family where I can get attention every once in a while. Of course, that will have to include regular belly rubs!

We require an application, phone interview and home visit prior to adoption. We will not discuss a specific dog with an applicant until the adoption process is completed. Our adoption fee for dogs under 9 months is $250, dogs between 9 months and 8 years is $195 and our super seniors are $175. Please visit our website for more information. Thank you!
