My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hope is Adopted

Hope is currently fostered in Rossford Ohio, and her adoption fee/donation is $300

REQUIREMENTS: FENCED YARD A MUST / NO CHILDREN / AT LEAST ONE OTHER DOG IN THE HOME.

Hope (Holly we call her) is a 2 yr old female cocker that came to us from a shelter in MI, where she was surrendered due to a “Bite” to her former owner. She was absolutely terrified and shut down in the shelter, she was acting out with snapping and growling at the shelter staff. She was scheduled to be euthanized due to her behavior, so we decided to give her a shot, to get her out of the shelter, and see what her “TRUE” issues are.

Cocker Spaniels are KNOWN to act out in shelter enviornments, they do not do well and often times are put down, when all they needed was to get out of the stressful environment, and into the hands of dog savy people, that know how to handle, and desensitize their issues. Hope was purely a case of “TERRIFIED OUT OF HER MIND”, and NOT a bad dog at all!! Since coming into foster care, she has been the sweetest, most loveable little DOG!!! There have been ZERO behavioral issues, however we have evaluated her and are 99.9% certain that she has fear issues, AKA a shy/skiddish demeanor. We believe this was the cause of the original “Bite” in the home and inside of the shelter. She is very much afraid of loud noises, and fast erratic movements. NO CHILDREN for this dog, we cannot put her in a situation that could stress her out and have her biting again. She also NEEDS A FENCED IN YARD, and at least one other dog in the home to help her gain confidence.

Hope is not the same dog she was, she is learning to live as a pet, and trying to come out of her shell a little bit more each day. There have been NO issues in her foster home, she is housetrained, quiet, and reserved. It will take more time, and any applicant that applies to adopt her will NEED TO KNOW COCKERS, and have the experience and patience to let her gradually settle in a new home, as well as overcome her fears. She does GREAT with other dogs, and does NOT bother the Cats in the home. Hope will make a great companion to the right person that can relax, and allow her to come around in her own time, and at her comfort level.
Hope is spayed, up to date on vaccines, and is heartworm negative.
