Phoenix's Story...
Phoenix is not yet ready for adoption as he has had a horrible start at life. Phoenix came to Pound Rescue after he travelled from shelter to shelter with hopes to find himself a home for life. The problem is, Phoenix was mistreated by his original guardian and therefore has little trust in men. Phoenix originally came from a group in the U.S.A. and purchased by a couple in Calgary. After Phoenix ran away twice they decided they no longer wanted to make things work. Phoenix ended up in a Kill shelter where his days were limited. Due to his shy behavior he was deemed "Un-Adoptable". Thankfully a concerned animal lover contacted Pound Rescue to see if we could offer him a home. Phoenix is now in a foster home, but would benefit finding a home where is given plenty of one on one, and one with a female who can help him through his fears and anxiety. Phoenix gets along great with other dogs but never wants to get too close to people. We are not sure what he was exposed to as a pup, but since he is still young we strongly feel that with plenty of one on one he will come out of his shell and learn too trust people.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Phoenix, a Okotoks Golden Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Golden Retriever for sale in Okotoks, or seeking a Golden Retriever dog from a breeder in Okotoks.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Okotoks already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Okotoks breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Golden Retriever breeders who help with Golden Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Okotoks paves the way for another one to be saved.
