Xena's Story...
I’m an English Bullmastiff named Xena—you know, like the warrior princess. Only I’m no warrior and I rarely perform any gravity-defying martial arts. I prefer to keep my feet firmly planted on the ground. I can do some pretty impressive non-gravity defying moves, though. One of my favorite moves is to lay down on the ground in a belly up position. It’s my way of asking for belly rubs. Belly rubs are oh-so good. So are treats, and hugs, and walks through the park. And every so often when we’re walking, I’ll stop and roll over and ask for another belly rub, or two. I’m a super-sweet and loving girl, and I have lots of friends here at the shelter. But I’m looking for a best friend, a sidekick, and life-long pal—my own Gabrielle, so to speak. I get along well with other dogs and folks of all ages, although I’d probably do best in a home with older children since I’m a rather large gal. I’m a superhero who’s looking for a super family. Together we can take on the world. (Please note: I can only be adopted to a home in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. There will be NO exceptions to this policy.)

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Xena, a Aldie English Mastiff dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a English Mastiff for sale in Aldie, or seeking a English Mastiff dog from a breeder in Aldie.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Aldie already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Aldie breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even English Mastiff breeders who help with English Mastiff rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Aldie paves the way for another one to be saved.
