Have you noticed that a disproportionate amount of dogs for adoption are adolescent, between 7 months to 2 years. What happened to the sweet and cuddly puppy who used to sleep half the day? Teenage dogs are rambunctious, jump on people, and seem to have no regard for rules. So many families become disillusioned with their pets at this age that they give up on them. Sheraz is a classic example of this as she was brought to the pound because she is too active. Although we have no details on the family who gave her up, chances are very little thought or research was put into the decision to get a dog. The adults in the family showed no leadership, gave no training, and offered no physical or mental stimulation. Sheraz became unruly because she was never trained and never learned what is expected of her. First and foremost, she will require lots of exercise—walking, running, fetching. Backyards are great but they do not offer enough stimulation for any dog, especially a canine adolescent. Secondly, obedience training is a must for Sheraz especially since she has a such a willingness to please. Sheraz is a fun dog who loves people and certainly deserves more than what life has just handed her. Would you consider giving Sheraz a chance at becoming a cherished pet? No doubt, there will be a lot of patience and work required but Sheraz will definitely provide you with lots of fun times and great memories.
