Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Sam is a 6-12 month old Dane who came to MAGDRL from a Shelter. He is a gorgeous Merle with the biggest, floppiest ears you have ever seen. There is little history on him, so we are not sure if he is a mix or a specific age. Sam is 80 lbs and could possibly double in size if he is a full Great Dane, or there are speculations that his is mixed with a Mastiff. He now lives with his foster, two small boys, ages 3 and 5 and a female yellow Lab. When Sam came to the rescue everything seemed new to him, hard wood floors, stairs, housebreaking. He is now exploring the entire house without stress. Within his first 24 hours with his foster he had a horrible reaction to his inoculations. A week and a half later he was back to normal. In the future Sam will need separate, spaced out shots. Just within the past couple of weeks he has really blossomed and gained much confidence. Regardless of his true age, Sam is a puppy at heart. Very head strong and needs supervision if he is out of his create because he can find all sorts of good things to get into. Sam is successfully learning boundaries with the children, house manors and basic obedience. He love his training sessions and is very motivated by food. We are currently trying to apply those manors to daily activities. Sam enjoys walks and is great on the lead. Currently, Sam is created at night and is out all day stuck by his Foster's side. He loves being surrounded by children spoiling him with pets and kisses when on a lead. However we are experiencing much excitement when cats cross his path or dogs that he does not greet. Sam has a tendency to play a little rough off the lead and does not pick up on other dogs social cues and can get carried away. He would do great in a home with other young large dogs who can take his rambunctious play. Redirecting him when he gets carried away has been very successful. With every enrichment, and introduction to different experiences he is proving to be successful. Sam is a sweet boy and is going to be a great addition to a forever family. Sam came to MAGDRL in September 2009.
