Olaf's Info...

I am already neutered, housetrained, purebred, up to date with shots, good with kids, and good with dogs.

Olaf's Story...
Olaf is an adult male dog that we estimate to be between 2 and 3 years of age. He looks like a purebred Shih-Tzu and weighs about 12 pounds. He came to us from the Austin City dog pound. Animal control officers in Austin picked him up being loose, and placed him into the dog pound. The owner then has 10 days to claim their dog, but no one showed up to claim him, so we took him into our Humane Society shelter. Olaf seems very well-adjusted and is friendly with people and other dogs. He is full of self-confidence and not squeemish in any way. He will be professionally groomed on 10/14/09. He seems in good physical shape. He enjoys daily walks and moderate exercise. Olaf has been given a rabies vaccination, a distemper/combo vaccination, a deworming, and has been neutered. He keeps his kennel pen pretty clean, but his prospective home should plan on doing some housetraining work just to be sure. His adoption fee is $95. We utilize a short adoption application form to assess compatibility between dogs and their prospective homes. This form is a simple one-sided Microsoft Word document and it can be e-mailed to you upon request. If you would like to receive the form via e-mail, or if you have any other questions, please send us an e-mail message. It would be best to e-mail us, rather than calling the Shelter. Thanks for looking at little Olaf!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Olaf, a Austin Shih Tzu dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shih Tzu for sale in Austin, or seeking a Shih Tzu dog from a breeder in Austin.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Austin already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Austin breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shih Tzu breeders who help with Shih Tzu rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Austin paves the way for another one to be saved.
