Meet Emmett, our 1300th rescue! Emmett is a 7 year old male pure bred red and white Basset Hound. He has very little red in his coat so upon first appearances, he looks all white. He is the coolest looking little guy I have seen! Emmett came to AZBHR as an owner relinquish from a family forced to move into a small apartment and unable to care for him. He is a very personable hound who loves most everyone and would do very well in a home with small kids or another dog to keep him company; however he does not need either to thrive in a loving home. Emmett has not shown any signs of aggression towards food and even though he free feeds with his foster sister, he knows his limits and only eats when he is hungry. He is partially potty trained and getting better every day! He does have an occasional accident and he did mark for the first couple days in his foster home but after he felt comfortable and started communicating when he needed a potty break, the marking stopped and he has improved greatly. Emmett would do wonderful in a home with a doggie door and would learn very quickly when to use it. Although Emmett loves everyone, he HATES cats!! When a cat is around he becomes mesmerized and will stop at nothing to get it! For the most part, Emmett is a very low maintenance, mild mannered Basset Hound who loves his naps during the day and gnawing on an occasional chewie. He is extremely comical and a huge love who would no doubt make his lucky new family very happy.
