Melli's Story...
Melli has just come into WBCR and already – we LOVE her!! Melli is just an amazingly sweet, loving, and mild mannered dog.

Melli sure likes company, and thrives on attention and just being with her humans and doggie friends.  She is a lovely companion to just hang out with, whether it’s watching TV or going for a walk.  This friendly girl also gets along with dogs of all sizes, and is somewhat playful with other dogs. Overall, she’s just an easygoing, moderate energy girl. She’ll fetch for a bit, and herd the other dogs ever so slightly when playing, but does not have the intensity or extreme high energy that a lot of purebred BCs do. Melli does have a super soft spot for snacks though, and will frequently check the pantry door to see if by chance someone has left it open! Clever girl.

Melli was abandoned at a boarding kennel, who contacted WBCR when her owners never came to reclaim her.  She’s a young BC mix, about 45 pounds, with a smooth coat and what a cute girl! Clearly she has been someone’s cared-for pet. She is fully housetrained, crate-trained, and knows some basic commands. Melli is very treat motivated and that mixed with her BC ’smarts’ will allow further training to be easy.  Melli is not a barker, is not a chewer of inappropriate items (but loves rawhides), and does not show an interest in jumping her foster mom’s 5 foot fence.  She will still need work on learning not to be mouthy and jump up when excited… due to this, she will not be placed in a family with
children under 6.

Melli is such an all-around good girl, she will do very well in many types of homes. If you are looking for a well adjusted, issue-free, easygoing winner, Melli would make a great choice!

Melli is spayed, fully vetted and living in a loving foster home in the Castle Rock, CO area.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Melli, a Denver Border Collie dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Border Collie for sale in Denver, or seeking a Border Collie dog from a breeder in Denver.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Denver already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Denver breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Border Collie breeders who help with Border Collie rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Denver paves the way for another one to be saved.
