Silly Spongy's Story...
This lovely little girl is Spongy (a silly name for such a beauty - I know the person responsible for naming her, too:) Spongy is a brindle-colored, Dutch Shepherd mix (the reason for the brindle coat) who has been waiting what seems like a lifetime for her very own forever home (it has been HER lifetime). She has an endearing personality, and has sweet kisses for all. For some reason, Spongy has been overlooked. She cannot figure out what she is doing wrong. She greets everyone with her precious bone, she gives big, wet kisses, she invites everyone to play with her. She just doesn't get it. - Neither do we. Her advocate keeps reassuring Spongy that the right person will come along. That person who will love Spongy until the end of her life, come what may, is out there - we just haven't found him or her yet. Still, Spongy is anxious (puppies don't have patience for this type of thing). She desperately wants to find her forever home with her forever person. She is ready to be the best little girl - just for you. Please consider this baby for your very own. Contact: Or call, 631-842-4086. Adoption of Spongy is contingent upon application approval, vet references, and a home visit. Spongy is spayed and in excellent health.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Silly Spongy, a Smithtown Dutch Shepherd dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dutch Shepherd for sale in Smithtown, or seeking a Dutch Shepherd dog from a breeder in Smithtown.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Smithtown already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Smithtown breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dutch Shepherd breeders who help with Dutch Shepherd rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Smithtown paves the way for another one to be saved.
