Louie's Story...
Hello there, my name is Louie and I'm a male black Lab. I was found as a city stray and my family never claimed me at impound so I came to the shelter on September 4, 2009. I'm about 2 years old or so and kind of skinny so I'm working on putting some weight on. I'm a very friendly guy and I get along with everybody. I'm always happy to see people and I just have a really nice personality. The volunteers bring me to the dog park and I love to play with all the other dogs there. I am very smart and can learn new things quickly. The staff is working on manners with me while on the leash. I just need someone who is willing to train me. It has already been seven weeks since I arrived. I am now neutered and would love to go home now. Please come and meet me, I know you won't be disappointed. Louie. Adoption donation is $125 and that will include my neuter, all of my up to date shots, dewormer, flea preventative and a heartworm test. The shelter is open on Tues, Thurs and Sat from 1-4 or you can call 507-625-6373 to make an appt.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Louie, a Mankato Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Mankato, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Mankato.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Mankato already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Mankato breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Mankato paves the way for another one to be saved.
