My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

"MISTY" -- is an 8 year old Border Collie or cross. Her coat is medium, her colour black and white and heavily ticked. She is a very sweet natured dog, who has been used to children, cats and other dogs and just wants the company of her people. Misty has plenty of energy and doesn't seem to be frightened of anything, and even when she upset the cat and he was all arched up with claws flashing, she didn't seem like she wanted revenge.
Misty could do with some obedience lessons even at her age, and a class would probably do her good for socializing and leash walking. She goes in a crate easily, makes a noise for a while then settles down. She is not destructive when left in a house uncrated. She has a little toy lion that is obviously not new but is still in one piece in her crate. We won't place her with small children, but children ten or older are ok. Misty is being fostered in Connecticut.

IMPORTANT: You should always choose a breed/dog that matches your CURRENT lifestyle. Border Collies are not for everyone, and contrary to popular misconception, most are NOT typically “great family pets” and “wonderful with children.” (If that were true, there would not be nearly as many in rescue!)

Before inquiring about adopting a dog from us, we recommend you do a little research to find out if a Border Collie really is right for your family. For this information, and details on our adoption process, please see our web site www.NEBCR.org.

Please note that you MUST FIRST fill out an adoption application AND have a home visit BEFORE being considered for any NEBCR dog. Our rescue representatives cannot consider you to adopt ANY dog until your application has been submitted and approved.

For more about Misty (including rescue contact information), and for more about other dogs currently available for adoption, please see our web site www.NEBCR.org.
