UPDATED BIO 12/6/2009: Bernie here! I'm 8 years old and 8 lbs. Hey, guess what!? I was having lots of crusties in my eyes. It was icky, but FM didn't mind cleaning them out every day. Well, FINALLY, my DOGtor told FM I had dry eye! Well, now I am getting eye drops, and my eyes feel so much better! Thank you FM and UYR for helping me feel so much better..... You know what would make me feel even better? A NEW HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS! (Maybe FM should take me to see Santy Claus so I can tell him that's what I want for Christmas? It'd be a cool Hannukah present too.... or a Kwanzaa gift!)
UPDATED BIO 11/6/2009: Hello everypuppy. It's me, Bernie. I'm still here, waiting patiently for my FURever home. I'm 8 years old and weigh 8 lbs. I'm a sweetheart of a boy and am still on the market (It's hard to believe, right?). There's not much new to report with me, except that FM thinks I am making some improvement in my leg-lifting. I wasn't noot-ered until later in life and am having some bit of trouble learning this is not acceptable. The nice thing is that I wear a little bellyband that keeps me from pee-peeing in the house. FM has a few other dogs here, but I think with some one-on-one time, I could learn real fast.
I like other dogs, but that testoster-oni stuff I have is still making it's way out of my system. I'm not the biggest fan of boy dogs, but again, I think I am teachable. I LOVE to sit on your lap or just near you and be loved on. I'll even paw you for more. I'm cute, small, and portable. FM says you could take me everywhere and hide me in a little bag. I'm just wishing and praying that there is someone out there looking for a little love-muffin like me who was given a second chance and not left to die at the shelter. I promise to love you FURever and ever.
I am currently seeing a doggie Dogtor for some eye-boogies. FM says she cleans them every day. I wish that made me sound even more appealing, but it probably doesn't. Maybe someone out there will love me anyway. Are you out there? Are you reading this? Well, if you are, answer my prayers and adopt me please!
UPDATED BIO 08/14/09: Bernie is a healthy and happy 8 y/o 8.2# yorkie; he is being fostered in Bradenton, FL. Bernie is a very sweet little boy, but he has let Foster Mom know that he wants to be the only sweet little boy in his furever home - he could share his home with a female doggie companion, but he wants to be the only male doggie in the home. He is more relaxed and trying very hard to please. Housetraining continues to be an issue, but his foster parents are working very hard with him on this. Bernie is so loving and is waiting patiently for his forever family to spot him and come and get him! He will make a wonderful companion for a retired couple where he could receive all the attention he so richly deserves.

Cats? He doesn't mind cats, just doesn't want another little boy dog to invade his kingdom! He gets along well with other dogs, both male and female, when he goes on his walks; he also loves to be held and petted. Could your home be the perfect one for Bernie?
Update 06/11/09: Bernie is 8 y/o and weighs 8.2#; he is being fostered in Bradenton, FL. Bernie has received a clean bill of health from the vet ~ yeah! The only vet recommendation is for a dental which he will have soon. Foster Mom reports that Bernie is a very sweet little boy, although he appears to be very shy - that may change as he gets more familiar with his surroundings. He gets along well with other dogs and even gets along with the resident cat! Bernie loves to be held and petted; he really looks forward to his walks. His perfect home would be one in which there was another dog close to his age and size and who is as sweeet as him.
ORIGINAL BIO 6/3/2009: Meet Bernie! Bernie is a 8 year old 8.2# little boy who was rescued from an area shelter today in South Florida. He has received all of his immunizations, has been microchipped, and has already been neutered. Little Bernie is just awaiting a dental (where he may lose a few toofers!!). Bernie is a sweetheart who loves to nuzzle up next to you. Tonight was a big night for him. After we cleaned him up and fixed him a yummy dinner, Bernie ended his luckiest day ever by going to sleep inside the travel crate his foster mom brought him home in. (It seems as if Bernie enjoys the crate...)
