Rusty's Story...
Rusty is a 18 mos. old Chocolate Lab or lab mix who loves everyone and other dogs. He was rescued out of a kennel in Oregon to become a narcotic police canine. During training Rusty began to limp on his left front leg so he was taken in for x-rays. I then found out that he had previously had a fracture to the leg and it was not set correctly or it was not set at all and healed incorrectly. Because of the previous injury Rusty cannot perform the task for a police department as planned, but he can function well as a house pet. Rusty has limited training, but will walk with a leash and obeys my commands to come and sit immediately. He has great play drive and understands the word "No" when he picks up the wrong toy. Rusty is not neutered at this time, but when he is adopted he will be neutered before pickup. Please contact

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Rusty, a El Segundo Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in El Segundo, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in El Segundo.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in El Segundo already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a El Segundo breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in El Segundo paves the way for another one to be saved.
