Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Otis is the product of a divorce. He stayed with the ex-husband. Then the ex re-married. The new wife and her kids did not adapt to Otis nor Otis to them. He's a big boy at 80 pounds and 5 years old. Best in a home familiar with the breed. Best with an individual or couple that have time to share. Presently Otis is confused and building trust would be a priority for new caregiver / family. Alot of positive reinforcement is needed. We've listed him as "special needs". Until comfortable, best with adults in quieter home. Adopter has to have confidence in handling dogs. Again, using positive reinforcement. Otis has potential to be a really nice dog. His history (prior to rescue) has him living with unfamiliar people that frequently left him in the garage and didn't interact with him. Obviously Weimaraners aren't a breed the previous family had knowledge of.. He's leery of new people but will bond with someone he trusts. Once he's secure & built trust with an individual -- he's a wonderful BOY!!! Housebroke, needs work on leash walking. Can be crated but not necessary. Good with most dogs, cats are questionable. Neutered, vaccines up to date, heartworm negative.......... Adoption $140 = to home well matched for his needs. IF IN THE TOLEDO AREA -- assistance from trainer is available - with part or all of the adoption fee supplied / forwarded to cost of training --- if the "right" home.
