Vicki-HOUSEBROKEN's Story...
UPDATE: Vicki's foster mom reports she is a perfect dog! Calm and well-mannered in the house, she hasn't had any accidents and is friendly to all people she has met. She will be an easy companion for someone willing to give her a second chance. She is not good with cats or small animals and seems to prefer to be the only dog in the household.

If poor Vicki could talk she would have a very sad story to tell- her owner passed away and she was alone in the house with her body for at least several days before she was discovered. Vicki was removed from her home and brought to an area shelter. She was so obese and arthritic that she could barely walk, and was diagnosed with a thyroid problem that wascontributing to her weight. Under the care of the shelter vet and with proper diet and medication she has lost 8 pounds so far and is walking much better already! She is a happy spunky girl who loves walks and attention and will make a wonderful companion for someone who can continue her diet and exercise program. She is on (inexpensive) daily medication to control her thyroid as well as pain meds which are helping her arthritis. She is a small-medium sized dog and probably should weigh about 30-35 pounds once she is an ideal weight. Please contact us if you are interested in this sweet girl.

We do not have a shelter- all our pets are in foster homes or boarding kennels and can be seen by appointment only during the week, or at our weekly pet adoptions every Sunday at the Animal Clinic of Morris Plains from 12:30 to 3PM at 3009 Route 10 East next to 5 Star Car Wash (formerly Boulder Car Wash). To help us better match a pet to your household, we request you fill out an application on our homepage www.secondchance.petfinder.com and copy and paste it into an email, or print it and bring it to our adoption day when you come. Local inquiries only please- we do not do long distance adoptions.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Vicki-HOUSEBROKEN, a Oak Ridge Sheltie, Shetland Sheepdog/Keeshond dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Sheltie, Shetland Sheepdog/Keeshond for sale in Oak Ridge, or seeking a Sheltie, Shetland Sheepdog/Keeshond dog from a breeder in Oak Ridge.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Oak Ridge already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Oak Ridge breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Sheltie, Shetland Sheepdog/Keeshond breeders who help with Sheltie, Shetland Sheepdog/Keeshond rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Oak Ridge paves the way for another one to be saved.
