My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sophie is Adopted

Sophie is currently being fostered in Akron NY, and her adoption fee/donation fee is $250
MUST READ ENTIRE BIO, SOPHIE HAS SOME SPECIAL NEEDS

Sophie is a 6-7 yr old female buff/blonde cocker spaniel that came to us as an owner surrender due to her owner being placed in a nursing home.

Sophie is a good girl, she loves belly rubs, and is super sweet!!
She also has some quirky personality that are Not so GOOD.
She can be a resource guarded when she gets something she is not supposed to have.
She does not like to have her paws messed with or her ears cleaned (needs muzzled), in fact she has to be muzzled for grooming her feet or she will bite.
She does not like other dogs, but good with cats, and needs to be placed as an only dog.
She will need an adopter/owner that is cocker savvy, one that knows not to push her issues.
If her trigger points are known and worked with, such as trading items she should not have, with treats, and not messing with her feet, she is easily managed.

She was adopted and returned to us because of these issues, so we are looking for a home that knows how to manage her correctly.
She does have the normal cocker ears, and they need to be cleaned and treated as needed, just muzzle her first.
These quirks are not that uncommon for this breed, so this is the reason we need a cocker experienced owner like her foster mom.
She is managing Sophie just fine, but has other dogs in the house, and she needs to be an only dog.

Her foster is able to manage Sophie well because she knows her triggers, and understands them.
She is a nice dog, well mannered otherwise, and can be a great companion dog!!
Sophie is pee pad trained, but is also house trained as long as you let her out regularly.
She is not good at letting you know she has to go out, she will run to you if you stand up, and that is a way to know she should go out.
Sophie is good for walks, LOVES car rides, and does not jump on furniture. She has to be put on furniture or bed if you want her there.

If you have read her bio, and think she is a good fit for you and your home, fill out our adoption application.

Sophie is spayed, up to date on vaccines, and heartworm negative.
