My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Holly and I am a boxer, terrier mix. You’ve heard the saying “looks can be deceiving”. Well I might not be the most attractive little girl around but where I might be a little short on looks, I am abundant in personality. I have a gentle mouth when taking treats. My personality, I will say, is sharp as a whip and I do not hold back on showing it. That’s probably why I get chosen from time to time to work with the student handlers. Our resident dog training instructor used me, Miss Holly, the model student, in the dog handling class. I must say, I made the instructor quite proud. I breezed right through the tasks that are expected of me. Like sit, stay, come. We also play a name game here at the shelter. When a dog hears it’s name, it is suppose to come running. Some dogs aren’t too good at this but I, on the other hand, am quite good. Every time I hear my name called I draw my attention to that person and do a perfect come. This is important because this one single skill could save my life one day so I make sure I do that task with precision. I suppose I should be honest and mention the “not so great” thing about me. I do not get along with other dogs, nor small pets so I need to be in a home as an “only child”. It’s also important to note that being the mix breed that I am, a good exercise routine is important. I’ve done so well here with the trainers at the shelter that I’m looking forward to continuing these skills with my new owner.
