Max's Story...

Max is a neutered male who was born in 2008. He is a yellow lab - red in color. Max is a very handsome boy, he has a case of happy tail, and is very strong, inquisitive and ready for anything.

Max has had a tough go of it - he was surrendered from his original owner to their friend and then somehow they let him wander off and yes a car came by and hit him and left him in the ditch. He mustered up enough strength to wander up to a house - the home owner took him in - posted signs - and then we got the call and said yes we would address his injuries and find him a home.

For almost 2 weeks Max endured a broken femur - but he never stopped trying. Max has completed his re-constructive orthopedic surgery and has completely recovered. His coat has grown back in, he has complete use of his leg - no joints were compromised - and he is a lab that does everything that a lab should and or shouldn't do. He may even make a good field companion.

Max would do best in a fenced in yard, he would rather be the only dog, he does not agree with cats, chickens, horses - perhaps a mild mannered older female dog of the same size. Max needs a lot of exercise - so needs someone willing to go for long long walks. He does best in a harness or easy walker. Max is current with all of his vaccines, heartworm preventative and de-worming. The adoption fee for Max is $150.00 and he is now ready for his permanent forever home.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Max, a Howell Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Howell, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Howell.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Howell already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Howell breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Howell paves the way for another one to be saved.
