My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Ginger is Adopted

Ginger is fostered in Valley View Ohio and her adoption donation is $250.00

Meet Cherished Cocker’s Rescue (CCR) most special pup, Ginger *snap. Ginger comes to us from a puppy mill where she was severely neglected for years. We believe her age is somewhere between 5-7 years old. She is very small at 14 lbs. Since arriving it’s become very obvious, she has had very little to no handling by people so we sent her to live with a trainer to get some foundational groundwork.

What Ginger is not: A lap dog, cuddle companion, confident creature and safe to be off leash. She does have some fear and will not do well in a household with a lot of energy or one that has a variable schedule.

What Ginger is: …slowly coming out of her shell. She follows her trainer everywhere and enjoys being near people. She will accept food from hand, allow for gentle petting and is even starting to show a playful side. She is good at walking on leash and knows her “house” command to go into her kennel. She enjoys the trainer’s cats and other small dogs and falls right into the pack with ease. Ginger would do okay in a very calm environment with children over the age of 12 and in a home where at least one person is home all day.
If you are considering Ginger as a companion for your home, you will need to understand she will probably not ever be a lap dog. However, she may choose to sit on the couch and watch a movie with you, especially if you share a dog-safe snack with her. She is very food motivated and it’s been quite helpful with her training.
Ginger has had a lot of interest from a lot of people that have followed her progress on our social media. That said, we will not adopt her out to someone that wants to love her. We will, however, adopt her to someone willing to train her, guide her, and provide the calming structure and continue to develop the foundational skills outlined by our trainer. We want not only for the adopting family to have a wonderful experience, but we must put our dog’s wellbeing first because when we adopt, our goal is for it to be fur’ever.
In your application, please let us know about yourself and why you are interested in Ginger. The trainer will work with applicants to assess if they might just be the right home and will help work with the adopter to ensure a smooth transition.

Ginger is spayed and micro chipped and will be current on vaccinations before adoption

We try to help as many dogs as we can, but our all-volunteer team of fosters and rescue workers is very small and often the dogs we take in require extra care both physically and mentally. Even if you realize you might not be able to adopt a dog like Ginger, your contributions via donation help us to continue the work. To learn more about our rescue and other dogs adoptable please visit our webpage linked in the information section.
