So, about me: I’m a striking, diminutive bull terrier mix, weighing in at only 45 pounds. But, let me remind you that the best things quite often come in small packages! ;-) I came in as a stray in December, and I have to say, I was not looking or feeling my best. But, the Grayson volunteers quickly saw I was a beautiful, rare diamond in the rough. They welcomed me with open arms, loved me, and took me to the vet. To my absolute horror, I tested heartworm positive – imagine that! But these kind volunteers had me, little Gentle Jill, fully vetted and now I am right as rain and ready to rock and roll. I’m spayed too, thank goodness, and all UTD on my shots.
I’m rapidly becoming a shelter favorite (and why wouldn’t I be?) because of my fabulous loving nature. In spite of everything, I just love, love, love people and really want one – or more – of my own! I’m really gentle when I take my treats and just want to be petted and cherished. What deserving true princess wouldn’t?
So, call for me today! I’m waiting just for you.

Shelter Info...
The Grayson County Humane Society is a small group of volunteers who are working to change our local animal shelter from a high-kill, low adoption facility to a Low- or no-kill facility with a high rescue/adoption/reclaimation rate. We have been fairly successful in our mission of rescue but need to increase adoption to end euthanasia due to shelter over crowding. We also transport owned pets to the lowest cost spay/neuter we can find and offer pet care and spay neuter information to our area residents.
The shelter is open on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 7:30AM to 1:30PM (Central Time Zone). Please contact us for an appointment if these times aren't suited to your schedule.
If you need directions to the shelter, please call us at 270-230-8839.
See our upcoming events at http://www.graysonhumane.org/info/events
If you see a pet that you're interested in adopting, you can apply on our website or you can email the shelter volunteers at dwhite@aggressiveonline.net or call 270-230-8839 to request that an adoption application be emailed or sent via regular mail to you. We do allow out-of-state adoptions, but a home visit and references are required. You can bring your completed application with you when you visit the shelter or you can submit it via email or regular mail.
All animals adopted from us will be altered before placement and will receive their vaccinations and worming. Our adoption fees are:
** Cats and Kittens $55
** Adult Dogs $85
** Puppies $100
We welcome rescues to look at our residents and will convey to no-kill organizations. You must sign an agreement to return the animal to us if there is any reason you will not be keeping the pet.
