Francisco's Story...
My name is Francisco. I’m a special boy with a heart of gold. I was so grateful to be rescued from the yard where I’d been chained. When volunteers found me, my fur was so badly matted it was hard to tell there was a dog underneath all that mess. My water was green with algae and obviously hadn’t been changed in ages. The only food I received were some table scraps that were thrown on the ground. I didn’t even have my own food bowl. Now that I’m at FOHA I get the fresh water and nutritious food that every dog deserves, and guess what else? I have my very own food bowl. Now, I know that doesn’t sound exciting, but if you’ve never had one before, it’s a pretty cool thing. Isn’t it funny how the little things can make you so happy? Oh, and speaking of happy, I’d be very happy to find a family of my own. I’d make a great addition to a deserving family—one that loves animals and treats them kindly. I’m such a well-behaved boy. I’m gentle so I’d get along great children. I also get along well other dogs. I’m an easy-going guy who accepts what life gives him. Now that my life seems to be moving in the right direction, I’m hoping I’ll get the family I’ve always wished for. (Please Note: I can only be adopted in the DC Metropolitan area. There will be no exceptions to this policy.)

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Francisco, a Aldie Afghan Hound dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Afghan Hound for sale in Aldie, or seeking a Afghan Hound dog from a breeder in Aldie.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Aldie already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Aldie breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Afghan Hound breeders who help with Afghan Hound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Aldie paves the way for another one to be saved.
