Keg's Story...
Why is it you think that people get a pet, promise to love it until the end of time, and then “WHAM”, out of nowhere we become “homeless”, “free to good home”, “put on the streets”, “turned over to animal control”. It must feel very empowering to know that you have control to wreck the life of something that can’t even speak. Even after thinking about all of this and knowing that if I came back as a two-legger and would have much more control and power over things, I would still come back as a dog - we know no evil, only give unconditional love and that will be rewarded in the end. I’m Keg, a female Dachshund/Jack Russell Terrier mix born approximately 12/08. I am up to date on shots, spayed and tested negative for heartworms. I just recently had a litter of puppies (MY LAST LITTER) before being dumped at animal control along with my babies. Thank goodness someone saw it in there heart to rescue me and all my babies. I know we will not end up together, but at least now we will all have a chance at a good life as part of a family. Since I am so small (approximately 10 lbs.), I probably would not do well with young children, but get along with nice adults and other dogs just fine. I know that being saved from euthanasia was most definitely my 2009 Christmas present, but if I may have one more wish, I would love to start 2010 in my new home.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Keg, a Baton Rouge Dachshund/Jack Russell Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dachshund/Jack Russell Terrier for sale in Baton Rouge, or seeking a Dachshund/Jack Russell Terrier dog from a breeder in Baton Rouge.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Baton Rouge already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Baton Rouge breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dachshund/Jack Russell Terrier breeders who help with Dachshund/Jack Russell Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Baton Rouge paves the way for another one to be saved.
