Daisy Mae's Story...
DaisyMae is a sweet, sweet 14 year-old, tri-colored female that was loved and well-cared for all all of her life until her previous owner lost her home. Her owner then contacted BHRG in a desperate attempt to find Daisy a good home. Her owner felt Daisy still had a lot of love to give. Daisy suffered a stroke on one side of her body several years ago but she regained her strength and is very independent. One side of her body is slightly weaker due to the stroke & you can tell when she walks & by the way she holds her head. Daisy had most of her back teeth removed last year due to decay so her food has to be softened with water, but she eats the softened food well and she has a good appetite. Daisy is deaf but responds very well to hand signals. She has had a difficult time adjusting to a new home & being away from her first mom after so many years but she has now settled into her foster home very well. She gets along great with other dogs and cats, and she is housetrained with a dog door. Daisy is so independent and low maintenance that you rarely know she is around. Daisy needs a home with no stairs and someone with time for a few neck rubs.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Daisy Mae, a Marietta Basset Hound dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Basset Hound for sale in Marietta, or seeking a Basset Hound dog from a breeder in Marietta.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Marietta already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Marietta breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Basset Hound breeders who help with Basset Hound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Marietta paves the way for another one to be saved.
