Schroeder's Story...
Schroeder is an adult male that is purebred Cocker Spaniel. He weighs about 25 pounds and we estimate him to be about 2 years of age. He came to us from the Austin City dog pound. Animal control officers in Austin picked him up being loose, and placed him into the dog pound. The owner then has 10 days to claim their dog, but no one showed up to claim him, so we took him into our Humane Society shelter. He is a happy guy and seems very well-adjusted. He's done fine with other Shelter dogs. He's a nice small sized dog that would fit in well with a moderately active home. He does try to keep his kennel clean, but his prospective home should plan on doing some housetraining work just to be sure. The adoption fee for Schroeder is $95. We utilize a short adoption application form to assess compatibility between dogs and their prospective homes. This form is a simple one-sided Microsoft Word document and it can be e-mailed to you upon request. If you would like to receive the form via e-mail, or if you have any other questions, please send us an e-mail message.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Schroeder, a Austin Cocker Spaniel dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Cocker Spaniel for sale in Austin, or seeking a Cocker Spaniel dog from a breeder in Austin.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Austin already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Austin breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Cocker Spaniel breeders who help with Cocker Spaniel rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Austin paves the way for another one to be saved.
