This dog is part of the Prison Trained K-9 Companion Program.  All dogs in this program are spayed/neutered, fully vaccinated, tested for Heartworm, given preventative, and wormed for internal parasites.  The dogs are then placed in a correctional facility for basic obedience training with an offender.  The dogs are in the facility for a period of 6 to 8 weeks or longer.  Then the dog will be ready for adoption.  Some dogs are trained for search and rescue work or detection work.  A few are trained to be Assistance Dogs.
