You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

DHS does not have a faclity. All of our animals are housed in foster homes. Therefore, we require having a completed adoption application on file before we ask our foster families to rearrange their schedules for a meet and greet or answer individual inquiries. And, please be patient, we are staffed only by volunteers. It may be a few days before you hear from us.

Graycee is a beautiful dog with a gorgeous dark brindle coat. She wandered into a family's yard and promptly gave birth. Her puppies are grown and now it is Graycee's time to find a forever home. She is a sweet, playful dog. She looks like she is smiling at times. She is good with most other dogs but is a little possesive with her treats. Grayceee is leash, house and crate trained. She will playfully chase kitties if they will run. Otherwise she ignores them. Graycee was a moderate Heart worm positive when tested in Nov 2014 but has been on preventative since then and is ready to be retested.

Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.

All of our adoptable pets are housed with foster families. When age appropriate, they have been spay/neutered, crate, leash and house trained. They have all been living in a family environment so have been evaluated for temperament and personality. We believe that we should know each pet well enough to make sure that when adopted, everyone lives happily ever after.
Since all of our animals are housed with fosters, we ask that you submit a completed application before  we answer individual inquiries. Submitting an application never obligates you to adopt but we will have a better understanding of your needs so that we can better answer your questions.

About The Delta Humane Society of Louisiana

About Our Rescue Group...

DHS promotes the compassionate treatment of all animals. In our area of Louisiana, there is no shelter, animal control or another animal welfare organization. We are their only advocates and we need YOUR help to make a difference.

Come Meet Our Pets...

As we have no shelter, all of our adoptable animals are housed with families. Please email help@thedeltahumanesociety.com to arrange a meet and greet..

Our Adoption Process...

Our adoption process has 3 steps. First we ask that you complete an application at http://www.thedeltahumanesociety.com/user/login?refererPageID=1359&keyID=1105&referer=/forms/form.phpQu8formid=1105Am1requirelogin=Yes
Once the application has been completed, we ask to do a brief, informal home visit. Once that has been completed, and you have been approved, you will be able to take the pet home for a sleepover that can last for up to 10 days. If you are satisfied that the pet is compatible with your family members, other pets and lifestyle, we will make the adoption final. Our adoption fees vary but the average is $250.00. The pet will have been spayed or neutered, have completed all of his vaccinations and be ready to go to your home. Finally, you must sign a contract that if, at any time during the life of the pet, your situation changes, it must be returned to us or we must give approval if you have a potential home. You can get more details on our web site.
