My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Chance is a gorgeous shorthair silver tabby/Siamese mix. Born in July of 2002, Chance truly lived up to his name after he was rescued from the streets and given a chance at a safe, comfy life. Chance was six months old when he was rescued, so it took him some time to get used to the life of a domesticated cat. Now, however, he revels in all the comforts of a people home (and the people in it)!

This charming boy has some interesting quirks and plenty of personality. Chance travels everywhere with his Furby, a small fuzzy ball he bonded with as a kitten. He gently carries Furby in his mouth, placing it in very important spots. Furby often appears in front of Chance’s favorite squirrel-watching window, next to his food bowl, and even on the bed.

Chance is quite a big kitty with long legs and a long body. Nonetheless, he has never seen a lap too small for him! He simply loves attention with lots of pets, tummy rubs, and snuggling. One night his foster mom woke up to find him snuggled up against her, happily purring away and kneading her leg. Now he is thrilled to sleep on the bed and cuddle all night long. Chance has a quiet purr that you can feel more than hear, and drools ever so slightly when he’s happy and relaxed. He talks a little bit, but most of his conversation is affection-related (“I'm awake, are you awake?” or “Do you see how the top of this cat tree is the perfect height for petting?”). He also likes to do a little bit of nighttime karaoke as he patrols the house before bedtime (his foster mom likes to think of it as warning the rodents away).

Chance is truly a sweet cat with an ever-present good nature. He hasn’t lost his kittenish playful ways, but is a nicely behaved grown-up who minds his manners and hygiene. He very much appreciates routine and predictability, and he will do best in a calm household with a low level of chaos. He likes all people, including “cat smart” older children. He has lived with other cats and would probably do well with another mellow cat buddy, but is also happy to be an only cat. Chance has not been dog-tested, but we think he would probably be fine with a mellow dog buddy after a bit of an adjustment period.

Chance, like all ARCF cats for adoption, has been neutered, microchipped, is up to date on vaccines, and has tested negative for FeLV and FIV.

If you are interested in meeting Chance, please fill out the "I'm interested" form at our website, and our adoption coordinator will respond promptly. Please note that we place cats in the following counties only: Multnomah, Washington, Clackamas and Clark.

Animal Rescue & Care Fund, Inc. is a small rescue organization. We rescue homeless animals only, and do not accept owner-surrendered pets. All our animals live with volunteers in their homes until they are matched with the right permanent family. Thank you for considering one of our pets for adoption.
