My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sweet Violet came into the shelter very scared, and remained so for several weeks. Gradually, she warmed up to volunteers who sat patiently with her, and now her whole being lights up the moment she spots one of them heading her way. Violet is still quite timid about the outside world, and needs lots of patience and encouragement to make her way to the park for a walk. Strangers frighten her, as do loud noises and speeding cars. However, when she looks up at you with scared eyes, she is quickly calmed by your reassuring words and gentle tone. Stopping on a park bench for a break, Violet will crawl right into your lap and stay there, ensconced in the safety of your lap. Violet loves other dogs, and seems to relax quickly in their presence. We STRONGLY recommend that Violet be adopted into a home with another dog. She is also relatively good with cats: she will chase them if they run, but will correct immediately upon reprimand. This sweet and sensitive girl will need a home filled with soft voices and patience, so that she can continue to come out of her shell and emerge into a confident lovely young dog.
