My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Rufus is an Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler/Yellow Lab Mix. He is Tan and White. Rufus is 8 Months Old. He is neutered and up to date on his shots. He weighs around 37 lbs.

Rufus is a very goofy happy guy. Rufus has not had a very good life so far, He was dragged into the pound by his former owner because the former owner didn't think he was worth the $100 running at large fee so he took him to a high kill pound. Rufus is a bit shy at first but boy does he warm up to you fast! He has that adorable pink on his nose which makes him even cuter, especially with those big ears of his! He loves everyone he meets, he just takes a bit of time for him to gather up the courage to come and visit you. He is very food motivated, loves treats and will run from the other side of the room if he hears that treat bag rustle. He does rather well on the leash, we currently use a slip lead on an extended leash and he does great, he even goes up and down the stairs with no problem at all. He would do great with a harness! Rufus loves the company of other dogs, they bring out his bubbly personality. He does know one command, he knows how to sit especially if he see's that you have a treat for his good deed. He doesn't quite know what the couch is, but he likes his dog bed so that's no a problem.

Rufus would blossom in any household. He would love to have a dog companion, but one on one with his family would do great as well. He is getting used to all of the sounds of the house and isn't afraid to investigate with that pink nose and those big ears. He loves our dogs here, especially Lucy our Boxer, he likes to puts his paws down in front of him and kinda jump back and woof at her. He has shown interest in stuffed toys that we have around the house, hasn't picked any of them up yet but with time and with the guidance of our dogs I'm sure he'll be playing fetch soon! Rufus is looking for a family that will treat him well and a family who thinks he's worth the world! He has a very loving personality and he's waiting for that perfect family to show him that love back!

Rufus is not aggressive with other dogs, he has been with small, large, young and old dogs.

At the rescue we require dogs to be kept indoors.

There is a $100 Adoption Fee for all dogs. Which includes the Spay/Neuter, Parvo/Distemper Combo Shot, Rabies Shot, Worming, Heartworm Tested Negative if over 6 months and Flea/Tick Prevention.
