Barry's Story...
Meet Barry, a small, handsome Terrier mix!

My name is Barry and I am 2 years old. I weigh about 10 lbs and came into the shelter after animal control discovered I was being mistreated at the hands of my previous parents.

The shelter medical team x-rayed my rear leg to make sure there were no broken bones.

The nerve is severed on my rear leg and it has been determined to be an “old injury,” so there is no chance that surgery to my hind limb would be a success. I’m being given glucosamine tablets to help strengthen my joints and a tiny drop of cod liver oil every 3rd day to help boost my immunities. I’m now on the road to complete health. I have been known to favor my hind leg lately when it’s cold & rainy. It still gets sore and I need to have many long, slow, walks as part of my recuperation so that I will eventually be able to bear complete weight on my hind leg and make it stronger over time.

Because I was an “evidence” dog for an “inhumane treatment” case, I was held at the shelter a little longer than some. But like most, when my time was up, I was a goner for sure. Ken-Mar Rescue helped me get out of there and took me to their vet for a “nose to tail” inspection. I’m one of the lucky ones: I got out alive and in fairly good shape. Now all I need is your help to find a great, “fur-ever” home.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Barry, a Los Angeles Dachshund/Terrier (Unknown Type, Small) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dachshund/Terrier (Unknown Type, Small) for sale in Los Angeles, or seeking a Dachshund/Terrier (Unknown Type, Small) dog from a breeder in Los Angeles.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Los Angeles already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Los Angeles breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dachshund/Terrier (Unknown Type, Small) breeders who help with Dachshund/Terrier (Unknown Type, Small) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Los Angeles paves the way for another one to be saved.
